Purple Heaven Palace
Purple Heaven Palace is located southeastern of ZhanQi Peak (Flag Flicking Peak). It was first constructed in North Song Dynasty (1119 – 1125 A.C). In Ming Dynasty (1413 A.C) it was reconstructed again and renovated in1803 A.C through 1820 A.C. It is the one of the eight the most grandest construction groups in Mount Wudang
There are altogether 29 buildings consisting of the Purple Heaven Palace, with total construction area reaching 6,854 square meters. From the up to down there are five levels along the central axis line and the buildings station at different level to show off their inner contents in a wide range. The main buildings include Dragon and Tiger Palace, Stele Booth, Square Hall, Purple Heaven Temple, Sacred Mother Palace. At the either side of the mail buildings are those attached buildings constructed along the central axis line and facing each other, altogether forming a square courtyard.
Purple Heaven Palace is the most outstanding work in Mount Wudang. Its basis is three –layer stone terraces. In the front and at the two sides of the terraces are steps heading upward to reach the main hall. At the top terrace is a broad space around and the main hall in the center covering 368.50 square meters. There are altogether 36 painted pillars at the four sides of the hall and three-layer eaves falling from the top in an appropriate proportion.
More than 800 Palaces ,Porches, Fasting Halls, Pavilions were formerly constructed, A tablet "Taiyuan Purple Cloud Palace" was bestowed, Purple Cloud Palace lies aginst Zhanqi Peak ,facing Zhaobi Peak, Santai Peak , Wulao Peak, Candle Peak, Hat-falling Peak,( Incense Burner )Peak, and so on. with Leisheng Cave on the right, with Yuji Pond and Baozhu Peak on the left. The nearby mountains naturally form a treasure chair which is used for "two dragons play with pearls ". Emperor Yongle of the ming Dynasty praised it as " Purple Could Blessing Place" T hrough the Blessing Palace where the tablet" Purple Could Blessing Place" is placed , you can enter Dragon and Tiger Palace, where clay statues of Dragons, white tigers are on two sides and majestic. Along hundreds of stone steps, through Shifang Hall, you will see a big spacious courtyard paved by square stones, there is three story platform on the courtyard, supporting the main palace --Purple Heaven Palace, which there are five rooms from front to back with manifold eaves and nine ridges, green titles red walls, the statues of Zhenwu in childhood, middle ages and old ages are worshipped on the seat with stone carvings, the statues of Golden Boy. Jade Girl and Generals are also listed on both sides, each in different posture. They are colorful , cast of copper and art treasure of the Ming Dynasty. On the left of the palace lays a Chinese Fir of a few of Zhangs. It was said that it came from far away, hence it got its name " the flying Chinese Fir", it was also called " Xianglin China Fir" because if knocking at one end, you can heard the clear voice on the other end. It was said the relics of the Ming Dynasty.Hundreds of Juggernauts and offering wares of the Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties are displayed in the shrine niches around the palace. A treasure-house of copper casting arts.Behind Purple Could Palace is Parents Palace raising, elegant and beautiful platform. The images of Zhengwu's parents are worshipped in Shrine Niche in the middle of the Palace. That is Jingle King Emperor Mingzhen and Shansheng Queen Immoral Qiongzhen. Guanying is worshipped in left Shrine Niche, and Shanxiao in right Shrine niche. It is also known as "A Hall of One Hundred Children", a place women pray for children in old times.
