Frequently Asked Question

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Question: I'm interested in studying at your school, primarily Tai Chi and Chi Gong for an extended period of time, six month to a year. May I ask you how many students are in your classes or what the student-teacher ratio is; meaning how many students will a teacher oversee and teach? I look forward to your reply. Thanks a lot.

A: At present we have many foreign students studying here and hopefully more is coming. As to student-teacher ratio it depends upon which class (because we have several classes going on by the different teachers). Mostly the ratio is from 1: 3 to 1:30. For example, for a Chi Kung and alchemy class, almost all students would attend and we have only two prominent masters there using English to give lecture.
2. Question: please send me information about the age limit to ingress in the Wudang Taoism Kung Fu Academy. actually i'm 32 years old, and if i colud, i would be glad to ingress in the academy in septembre 2010 when i'm going to have 34 years old.

4. Question: I'm Italian living in UK. I'm planning to travel to China in October and I'm interested in spending about 1 month (with the possibility to extend this period) to the Wudang Kungfu Academy. I like the idea of living and training high up on the mountains. First of all congratulations for the website as it gives so much information and it's a great resource about kung fu and Taoist practices. I'd appreciate to have your help in suggesting me a program of studies considering my interests. I'd like to study some form of wudang external kung fu as well as I'm very interested in hard natue qi gong. Beside that I'm very interested also in Taoism, inner alchemy and qi-gong. The program on the website of damo-qi gong seems very interesting. Is there a similar possibility for the period I'll be there, with lectures and may be visits to taoist temples? Please let me know what are your recommendations. Thanks in advance,
A. Please have notice that the lecture upon Chi Kung, Taoism, inner alchemy can only be available the during 1st-10th day of each month.

So, please choose right date to come. Otherwise, there is only Kungfu study available.

Most Kungfu study is carried out in the Taoism temple. So, you already begin to experience Taoist life once in our school. We plan to upload more pictures to tell people th ereal life in and around our academy.

7. Question: Hello..thankyou for your time...one question that i do have is here at the academy im at all are afternoons involve kickboxing and whats called power training sessions which just involve lifting weights, running and punching bags, and we only do 3 hours of forms training all week!...when i came to china i really wanted to learn gi gong lots of forms and there applications rather than what im doing...by looking at your website i get the feel that more time is spent on the internal aspect...is this so or is there alot of boxing and running etc...king regards mike hall

8. Inquiry: Dear sirs, are there students who come to learn only Tai Chi? I am a beginning Yang style student. Would it be too confusing to learn Wudang style for a short time only? I look forward to visiting your school some day. Sincerely,
A: Yes, there are many students coming here to attend only one kind of Kungfu form set study. It is very common.
Short term study really does not worth it, given the high costs and very few accomplishment to be gained possibly.

21. Question: Hi, I would like to enquire how much can be accomplished for learning Taiji for a period of 7 days with you academy? Can meditation be included in these 7 days of training? Best Regards

A: Thank you for the letter.

Within 7 days you can finish learning Wudang Tai Chi 13 Forms, a simplified version. Yes, you can study meditation but please remember such class can be available from the 1st day to the 10th day of each month. It lasts 2 - 4 hours each day, after Kungfu class. We have a large meeting hall where all students would join to listen to the lecture and demonstration by master Hu (who speak English and is an expert in this field).

So, please arrange your arrival at the proper time, if possible and convenient for you.

22. Question: Again, thanks for your reply. I just wanted to make sure that you teach Tai Chi and to that end, I'd like to ask you what form or style your teaching and how many hours a day is this practice offered?

I'm asking as I'm currently studying Tai Chi in Yangshuo, China. Since I'm also interested in the internal aspect, such as Chi Gong, I'm looking for a training facility, such as yours. I'm aware that you teach a differnent kind of Tai Chi than the one I've been learning here, yet how many hours a day can or could I tend to this practice at your place?

Answer: In the earlier morning we have one hour of morning excise; two hours of Kungfu training in the morning after breakfast; two hours of Kungfu training in the afternoon,

Every month from the first day to the tenth day, we add more than two hours class teaching Taoism, Buddhism, Qigong, Taoist Yoga, meditation teaching, theory and pratice. Such class is intended to teach theory by master Hu, the expert in this field. We teach Chi Kong throughout each month. As to the details of the Tai Chi we teach please visit http://www.wudang-kungfu.com/curriculum.html
