Book Discourse on Chuang Tzu:
Lifetime — A White Colt Glimpsed Through A Crack In The Wall

Excerpt from book Discourse On Chuang Tzu

The passing of a man’s lifetime between heaven and earth can be likened to the passing of a white colt glimpsed through a crack in the wall — whoosh! — It is there for an instant, then gone. Overflowing and set in motion train, there is nothing that does not emerge. Drifting away and disappearing into silence, there is nothing that does not return. With one transformation they live, with another transformation they die. Living things grieve over this, mankind sheds tears for this. Release the quiver lent by heaven to hold the arrow, let go of the heaven lent satchel! Amidst the great confusion and apparent metamorphosis, the unfettered comes into being. Hun and P’oh make haste towards it, while the corporeal body follows behind. Hurrying onwards to reach, at last, the Great Return.

It is held as common knowledge, by all mankind, that the corporeal body emerges from the incorporeal and finally returns to the incorporeal once again. There is no need for those who are on their way to the way of the Tao to expound on this. This is something which is debated by the common man. Those who attain it do not expound on it and those who expound on it do not attain it. Those who stare with beady eyes, will never detect it, so It is therefore better to keep silent than to engage in discourse about it. The Tao cannot be heard with the ears, so it is better to plug up your ears than to pin them back, listening out for it. This is called the Great Acquisition.

Discourse on Chuang Tzu

Chuang Tzu promoted carefree wandering and becoming one with “Tao” by freeing oneself from entanglement through the Taoist principle of non-causative action.
